I was looking at the 42" model...let us know how you like it and how it cuts.

Owned my own lawn business for years. get the toro even with the stamped deck. Less than an acre a 36 in is all you need. BS about kohler vs. kawi also. both are good. I wouldn't spend more than about $2,700 for it.

I had this one:
Bought it about 12 years ago for $2700 at Lowes. Used it to cut my 1 acre yard and rarely had a problem with it (had to replace the battery and a belt) when I owned it.
What I liked about it was the front mounted deck. This allows you to mow very close to fences, trees and other features in your yard so that you don't need a trimming mower.
I moved last August and sold it to my neighbor for $1100
I'm sure he will get another decade of service out of it if he maintains it as well as I did.

I always feel like I could have gotten more after i decide on a purchase, but i feel that i got the best value here. After about 8 hrs on engine and all is good. It takes me longer to trim. Unit feels sturdy, seat is comfy, engine is much quieter than i expected. I do feel like the rack to raise the deck could have been given more thought though.
So far so good.

none of the above...
I'd get the Gravely ZT HD
basically a professional home Owners model

Agreed, have a Toro self propelled (with Kohler motor), 2 years old and has been in the shop 3 times

Update: Decided on a Big Dog Alpha 52". Basically an upgraded Hustler Raptor, same manufacturer. $2900
Sorry for old bump but I'm looking at the Alpha 36" and want to know where you got yours at. I read up and the Alpha is the same as the Hustler Raptor made by Excel.
