Why do YouTube bass fishermen act like you're committing a felony when you keep a bass? I was watching a video and the guys were acting appalled that someone would keep 2 bass. I don't understand it, maybe someone needs them to feed their family.

these are the same idiots who are going out there convincing people that the limits must be drastically reduced because someone took a fish home to eat

they want catch and release to be the law of the land

It is kind of ridiculous. Now I don't usually keep them. Hell, I rarely catch them but every once in a while I'll catch when when fishing for stripers on Texoma.

The last largemouth I kept was a few years ago when my stepdaughter caught one. She wanted to keep it to compare to our striped bass, so I said ok. No big deal.

The pros and wanna be pros get mad because they think it hurts their clicks, which is bug bucks.

What is the reasoning behind them not wanting people to keep bass (or any other fish)?

Just searched him on facebook. The face he makes on his video preview pics are enough to make me never watch him.

I'm a big bass fishing guy... If someone wants to keep the 1,2 and 3 pounders to fry up a mess, good. But I am all for throwing back the bigger ones.

I bass fish year around. Go all over the country and fish. I catch and release 95% of the time and will not keep anything over 3 pounds unless I'm gonna mount it. But Idgaf if somebody wants to legally harvest fish and keep them for food. To grow big bass you need some of the smaller ones taken out of the ecosystem.

TL,DR

Do what the F you want and let others do what they want as long as it's legal.

yep, the people loose their fricking minds all because someone told them not to keep bass.

that lie was great to cause bass populations to explode everywhere, but it created the dont keep fish nazis that come after you and make posting a video not worth it

I went out on Bruin yesterday to try to fish amongst 5,000 bassholes fishing some tournament. I had to go to the complete opposite end of the lake from where I wanted to to get away from them. Ended up down by the state park and caught 6 in about 20 minutes burning a trap over this little flat. One was 4.5 lbs. When I threw it back the two boats that were down there saw it. I guess that signaled to them I wasn't in the tournament and the frickers descended on m little flat. I said screw and left. Go to my pier to clean the (5) 2lb ish bass I kept. Some douche comes by fishing my pier and see's me filleting them. Hits me with a comment about how I should just catch perch if I wanted to keep fish to eat. I told him I only eat bass, then started throwing my carcasses in his direction. He got all pissy, cranked up and hauled arse. It was pretty funny. But yea this new breed of bass fishermen are terrible.

There aren't many I like on TV either. I have to catch 5 keepers to keep them all. And each have to be 12", 14" obviously at TB and SRayburn. Anything over 15" goes back in.

They aren't hard to catch, they're plentiful, and they taste great. Even if they weren't as good eating as they are I'd be eating them just to spite the "you're committing a felony when you keep a bass" guys

If you really want to see some good melts post an ice chest of bass on the reddit bass forum. One of my uncles drained his pond a few years ago and we filled an ice chest up before he did it. I put a picture of it on there and you'd have thought we'd murdered somebody.

I'll never forget when a tourney bass fisherman in a $90k 22ft bass rig pulled up amongst 100 perch and catfishermen boats at the welfare hole on Ross Barnett running quarter throttle throwing an enormous wake, standing up scanning the area with his partner (like they were going to see anything on a 30 ft. deep channel), both wearing these ridiculous helmets with the full tint faceshields and some type of Ed Hardy skull wrap decorative stickers on them, and spending all of 45 seconds fishing nothing in particular at all.

they shut it off, ran to their fishing stations, casted 5 times a piece, cranked up and left out, and they never removed their helmets.

it was top 5 gayest things I've ever seen.

there were dozens of small jonn boats almost swamped from their little circus act, and not a single craft was NOT audibly cussing them and flipping them off as they left out.

all over some glorified fruit jar tournament.
