You're Carrying and attacked by dog..

Wondered what I should do in this situation. If you were carrying and enjoying a stroll, how would you defend yourself if you were attacked by a dog capable of inflicting serious damage? If you discharged your weapon to protect yourself, what are the legal implications?

Depends, where are you when you are attacked? What size dog? Was it provoked? How bad are your injuries?
Assuming you are on your property and a 100lb beast runs at you from nowhere and locks on to your arm or leg for no reason, I would imagine you would be safe to shoot it.

If your life is threatened you shoot. If not then don't shoot. Same for any situation.

No. Not even close. I don't have to be anything close to fearing for my life to shoot a damn dog that's attacking me. I don't believe a 50lb dog can kill me, but if one were to attack, that would be the end of him.

Before you shoot, think about the root causes. What did you do to make the dog feel threatened? Are you asserting your human privilege and you don't know it?

A 50lb dog could severely injure you and could take your life. If a 50lb pitbull even looks at me I consider my life threatened. If a 10lb Chihuahua is attacking me I'm gonna punt it across the street.
