Thank you for joining! We need some experts like you. I like carrying my S&W 686 while deer hunting to head shoot doe at 25 yes and under. Do you feel a .357 is good on a behind the shoulder shot out to 50 yes?

depends, can you reliably hit an 8" disk at that range, with that rig? do you have sense enough to wear "ea-valve" plugs when hunting? Is the light good enough to let you find it, if it takes a step as you fire and you get a bad hit? Is it a level angle shot, or from a stand, on a steep hill? Is there a clear shot, no brush in the way? Do you have a decently penetrating, expanding load, which will cause a lot of shock and destruction, and also give you an exit wound and a blood trail? If the answer to all that is yes, then the 357 will suffice at that range. But realistically, since you're just a bser, the answer is "no".

shooting the big cats is mostly, maybe even completely illegal in the US. Maybe a few of the black panthers, as some call them, can still be hunted in S America or asia..
