Yard full of weeds

Anyone have any kind of advice on how to get rid of a yard full of weeds? Just rented a nice place and trying to fix up the backyard. Landlord said he would be happy to pay me if I wanted to do it. The yard is covered in a lot of poison ivy and sumac. not much grass at all. What can I do to get a green yard and get rid of these weeds?

Spray everything with roundup in late September lay sod in December and mow ur beautiful yard in March

Roundup and start over.

Sod is your best option
My back yard is awful too but I have enough grass to not want to nuke it
