Do you try to blow all the water out with a compressor first?

What's the best thing to cover citrus trees with?

If they are really big, maybe a blue tarp from the hardware store. You could put a drop light in it also. I've also heard some people say pile some hay or mulch around the base of the tree to keep some warmth in.

No, I have no way to do it. I have found that if you open the faucets, the freezing doesn't damage anything. Had an entire fixture blown across the camper once

I shut the water off to my barn and blow it out so I don't have to wrap anything there. I made an adapter that I can hook my air compressor up to one spigot. Then just walk to each spigot and water trough open til only air comes out.

All I have is a cheap $65 harbor freight compressor.

I have a bit of a problem maybe the wise OB'ers can educate me on. I dug up some water lines under my deck over the summer. Its a joint where one line splits off into 3. There is still a pretty big hole with the lines exposed and the hole in now full of water.

Will the lines being submerged in water be more protected than if exposed?

And I turn the pressure on the compressor down to 60psi. Just to make sure I don't blow a pipe apart at the normal 120 psi the compressor is set at.

Water is one of the best insulators. I would let the water stay in the hole.

This is my thinking. No way the water in the hole will freeze solid so the water running through the lines will never be able to freeze, at least at that location. Thanks for the reassurance

This won't be a pipe-breaking freeze. For that temps have to remain at/below freezing for a longer time.
