Woodcock Banquet in Henderson on Friday Jan 20th

For any upland hunters the American Woodcock Society has it's annual banquet on next Friday the 20th.

I thought I was at a banquet last weekend when I went to Lake ramsey. Jumped 4-5 right in a row walking in. They were all just 6-8 feet apart on the ground, I guess sleeping?? After #2, i spotted them with my flashlight. But that first one almost made me holler

They are nocturnal and feed at night

You should take your dogs to lake ramsey. Woodcocks everywhere on the trails in the bird dog training area. Especially predawn.

I like the sound they make when they flush.
I flush them walking to my duck hole almost every time I hunt.
