If you want St Aug be real careful with the low cutting. It really gets stressed. I put my mower on the fifth level up and the aug does well. It doesn't appear that you have much shade there (I may be incorrect), the st aug is gonna need all the help it can get to thrive.

I used to cut low. then I reasoned that I am gonna cut every 7 days either way, so why not cut higher? less clippings etc.

It will not choke out the bermuda. You will have to TRY to kill the bermuda. I own a sod farm. Trust me I know!
