This is why I refused to shoot a doe that my neighbor hit with their truck a few years ago. Doe was obviously suffering and wasn't going to survive, but no way was I going to put it out of its misery and risk the fines and legal hassel. State trooper said that was his job to euthanize it. What is illegal isn't always common sense, imho.
