It's going down. LINK

It's starting!! :) During a flight last week, L2 & 13-11 were observed actively building a nest platform! They have been back on their breeding/nesting territory for several weeks but this was the only platform seen so they apparently just got started. Last year their first nest began sometime between 8-14 March so while it still may be several weeks or maybe just a few days before they lay eggs they appear to be on track for an earlier start this year!

Century long historically absent confirmation of an early spring?

Same pair hatched 2 last year. First one's to hatch since 1939 in the wild in LA. One for sure survived as another OB poster got pics of 5 earlier this duck season. The pair and 1 chick were 3 of the 5 confirmed by LDWF after he sent the pics in.

What a fantastic use of taxpayer money. Gotta give a round of applause for this one.

When I worked on the project we relied heavily on private donations. Several of the big wigs in LDWF actually tried cutting corners wherever possible and not everyone involved was sold on the project. Not sure of their feelings now that chicks have hatched.

More of your tax dollars go to dumber things than this project, trust me.

Link to nowhere.

Methinks I remember hearing 1-2 were shot and killed this past year.
