Is there anywhere to fish from the bank? Is the fishing worthwhile there? Looking for a place to take my son for day of fishing.

TIA.

(Paging Pillage)

My 2 cents... too many gators used to humans. I wouldnt let children or pets near the bank.

Lake Martin in Alabama needs binoculars if fishing from the bank.

there's plenty of bass but the gator population is very high and the grass is horrible right now. I wouldn't fish Lake Martin unless it was in a decent size boat.

-Thanks for the input.

-Yes, Lake Martin in Louisiana, Ascension Parish.

-If gators are that bad, sounds like I'll be looking for somewhere else.

Any goods suggestions for bank fishing within an hour of baton rouge?

Yep, I could help with that one. I'm not familiar with the other one. Or the one in Alabama.

LSU Lakes? City Park in New Orleans? Others may have some better ideas. I have a bass boat and a kayak, but I still like to learn good bank fishing spots.

Same here, and they have a ton of gators out there. I was out there a few months ago and stopped to take a few pics of an owl I spotted just off the road. I was standing there for 2 or 3 minutes watching the bird when I looked down and there was a gator just off the bank about 3-4 feet from my feet. I'm not not sure my butthole is completely unpuckered to this day.

Here's a tip about that lake. If you go out there and see no gators, go home. Cause you probably won't catch shite that day.

Lake Martin in Ascension Parish has bank fishing, but only if you know someone who lives there. Bank side is all private land with private landing. You can come in from the Amite Diversion as long as the water isn't low, but you need a boat for that.

Not many gators, but very few spots to fish from the bank actually. Most is all private ownership, you can bobber fish at the little private launch with a kid, no one will run you off.
My suggestion is try a different lake unless that one is really close to your house and your kids is very young
