I have about 15 folding knives from various brands. I get maybe 2 new ones every year.
Anybody here collect?

Father in law is a compulsive “collector” and seller, and a couple friends make knives. We have more than I can count. Will be at the blade show this weekend with FIL, I’m sure we will come home with more .
I don’t really follow brands, just like what I think is useful or cool.

I try to buy American. I've bought 2 Chinese for gifts.
I would buy Italian, German, or Taiwanese. I would just rather my money to stay here.
Let me clarify, folding, locking knives. I have a friend who collects slip joints.
It's addictive.

I have a plethora of shitty cheap knives in almost every nook and cranny of the house, vehicles, ect. Just a few decent EDC's that are my staples if you will
Also inherited a slew of bad arse fixed blade hunting and skinning knives from my dad

I’ve got a hundred or so. I gave away a ton of knives to somebody’s kid on here a few years ago.
I’ve got them tucked away all over the place. I’ve got these 4 in my bathroom drawer

I only have 2 SpyderCos. Both compression locks. I like them. Spider flip is nice for fidgeting.

I've thought about trying a Kershaw Auto. I have a Buck auto and another I can't recall the maker.

I have a few and would like to get more. I recently bought a Kizer Maverick Harpoon in 10v and a Benchmade Hidden Canyon in s90v. I cleaned 3 deer with the canyon last year and it still takes hair off of my arm. I'd like to get something in cruwear. I don't know much about the steels but love reading about it.

I have a Benchmade Grizzly Creek for camping. Great knife. Benchmade's Hunt series are excellent.

Not necessarily a collector yet but got into knife sharpening with Japanese whetstones over the last year. Wife wanted her near 30 year old set of Chicago Cutlery knives sharpened. After watching dozens of videos on how to and then falling arse backwards down a YouTube rabbit hole I'm hooked. I get my knives at estate sales, garage sales and thrift stores for a few bucks. I'm planning to replace the handles on a few and eventually would like to make my own. I had no idea until I got into doing this how huge the knife sharpening and knife building community is. It's also very therapeutic for me to work with my hands and learn a craft and escape all the daily BS I have to deal with at my day job.

That is awesome. I need to learn how to use a strop. Any advice is appreciated.

I prefer USA made, too. We also tend to buy whatever the ka-bar novelty item is each year, like pizza slicer, ice cream scoop, pocket fisherman… whatever it may be.
I don’t like fixed blade knives, but I have several. I also normally buy folding knives and I’m a sucker for multi tools.
I also apparently can’t resist small, very bright flashlights.
Just pulled out what’s in “my” drawer in the kitchen…nothing nice like you collectors, but just funny what has ended up in one spot…
Found a couple more in that drawer after that photo. Ha. And a bear repellant pistol and about 6 lighters. I guess in a pinch I just dump that drawer in a bag and go…

I haven’t counted but perhaps 50 or so fixed blades, auto, OTF, flippers, in various finishes and styles. Knives make great gifts as well as being collectibles.

Kind of. I've gone "value" lately. It is a great time to be a collector, though. So many knives that are great values (if you look) in the $30 to $70 range. I wish I had the dough to go custom, but it is what it is.

Not really a collector but I have several store bought (zt, benchmade bugout, Kershaw ken onion, boker skinner ,mora, dexter russel various leathermans) .
I made a couple of knives and gave them away and sold some ( saw blades, 1080cs) I have some 1095cs blanks I have cut that are hopefully improvements on my other blades that I need to heat treat and finish.
All that being said it’s hard to beat a dextar russel or a mora, I keep several of them around all the time.
