It sure ain't American Rifleman or Field and Stream. I don't believe either publication has ever met a firearm they didn't like. Where is the Consumer Reports of firearm reviews? A place that will give you the straight scoop whether a firearm is a POS or the next best thing since sliced bread?

I always love hickock45 but he for the most part pistols. He does also try to give the benefit of the doubt sometimes. I'm not sure I've heard him say he flat out dislikes something.

Just Google the name of the gun with reviews and forum after it. You will have to take the opinions of others and not some magazine article.

Probably some of the best I've seen are:

Military Arms Channel
Nutnfancy
Geauga Firearms Academy
Honest Outlaw Reviews
Justin Opinion
Mrgunsngear Channel
Reid Henrichs
Sootch00

There are few channels that will just beat a gun to death if it's bad but most of these channels will.

I hate that American Rifleman and Field and Stream are so married to the money they get from manufacturers that they can't call a spade a spade. Consumers get BETTER products when reviewers are critical. When it's all praise there is nothing left to strive for.

None of the big blogs/youtube/social media or major publications are going to be objective. Like someone else mentioned I would just google it and stick to other forums with regular people. However, it should be noted people are mostly likely to speak up only if there is a problem. Few will start a thread just to praise a gun, but they tend to chime in with good experiences when others ask or are having issues. Also, not every gun is going to be for everyone. For instance, there are a lot of people who hate Glock and speak out against them, but their pistols aren't shite. Hard to go wrong with one of the big name brands in a gun that fits you well.

the Consumer Reports of firearm reviews

www.Gun-tests.com

In the following article they reviewed 4 single stack 9mm's. Some of resident Taurus and Kel-Tec haters will doubt their findings:
Taurus 709 "Slim": Grade A
Kel-Tec PF9: Grade A-
Sig 938: Grade B
Remington R51: Grade D

Coming from a kid who fancied himself a firearm enthusiast (every cent I saved as a kid went towards a new CO2 pistol or .22), but didn't have the fortune of having a dad that hunted or a pawpaw, a lot of what I've learned of firearms has come from extensive online research and reviews, and just plain trial and error. Prop pretty much nailed it. Read forums, compare what you read from forum to forum, you will see patterns that will rarely let you down.
