When do you start scouting for actual ducks (not offseason scouting)? Just the weekend before, or for a month before, or what?

Btw here's to an awesome season. Can't wait to get started.

I'm just glad to see a duck thread because I can't stop thinking about it.

I don't do too much preseason scouting. May build blinds and what not but don't specially scout, too much changes in a week. I'll set up on opening day spot and hope they're there when I return.

After seeing the D. Guidry thread blow up on MMT, I don't build blinds just so people don't go squat in them.

got a link? prob 90% of my scouting gets immediately crossed off my list because i see a lot of flagging, old blinds, shells, etc.

Reading that thread it sounds like people were reserving spots with blinds on public land and then trying to enforce it as "their" land by threatening him. Maybe dguidry is a douche bag, I don't know him, but anyone trying to claim public land for their own is a douche bag in my opinion.

I have zero fricks to give for how long you've been hunting somewhere on public land, or whether you built a blind there or what. Public land is public and hunting every morning is first come first served.

Bring that to Fat Neck's place on Catahoula and see how it works out for you, Sugarass.

While I agree, I'm still not hunting someone else's blind.

Oh I know how it'll work out. My tires will be slashed and windows smashed in when I get back to the truck. I grew up hunting in Avoyelles parish and I know how the animals in that zoo are.

Doesn't stop them from being douche bags tho. One day enough people will have video cameras in those cars and enough of those frickers will go to jail that they'll quit doing shite like that.

I gave up my blind on Catahoula due to all of the ignorant Cicero's that have infiltrated recently. Better places to hunt where sugarass does not have the bravery to venture to. Seems like the flats of Henderson may rival CAT these days for dumbassery. Good luck scraping it out for a woodie and the 3-5 mallards a year
