Baton Rouge here. Trimmed the dead branches off my queen palms a few days ago and wondering when they will start to grow again (if they didn't die over the winter). Anyone out there with new growth yet?

Mine has new growth and I have trimmed the lower level brown ones off. You should see new branches and reproductive shoots forming.

(What are those shoots that make all the seeds called?)

Yeah, this is my second go-around with in-ground Queen Palms. If these don't make it, then I'll be planting something else.

I'm on the Northshore and I've had 5 die in 7 years, due to freezing. Maybe I just have bad luck..
