got lost in the Wax overnight. We were drunk, young and only had a few live crabs and a bottle of Tequila on the boat. Ran out of gas. They had to send a search plane for us.

One Sunday there was some commotion in front of my house,so my dad goes to check it out and one of the big bucks I was after got hit by a car. The driver says there were 2 bucks together and my dad looks over a sure enough the other buck has stopped to look back at his buddy probably 200 yards away. Some ding dong who stopped decided to pull out his rifle to make a shot on the buck in the pasture, but my dad intervened and an exchange of words ensued between my dad and the guy and the moron cop who just stood by while an idiot tries to make a shot from the road on someone else's land. It was my Junior year of college so I wasn't home at the time and a fireman came along and took the buck.

There were pictures going around the ZFD of the buck posed with different firemen in their hunting gear, but I never got my hands on one.

Go forward a couple days and I finally am able to make it to the house to hunt. I decided to court the future Mrs. Pointdog by inviting her to hunt with me. So dusk comes around and sure enough number 2 big buck comes out perfect broad-side at 100yrds. For some stupid reason I decided to use a shotgun that day instead of my rifle. I take the ill advised shot with the buckshot. Totally missed by the buck turned directly towards me a ran straight at me. I pump and raise to shoot the second time when he was probably 35 yards away and nothing happens. The first shell didn't eject, so I watched the biggest deer I have ever shot at run away unscratched.

climbing into a lock on before daylight, and the top strap holding the ladder broke when I was over 20 ft up the tree. Rung on the ladder tore through 3 layers of clothes and then the inside of my leg.

same exact way my buddy fell. was getting down from lock on and top strap broke. He lost his leg.. This is why i strap and chain all my stands

That's why I have a lifeline on every single stand in the woods.

question on the lifeline.. on ladder stands how does it work? the ladder is out from the tree a good bit, so if you fall while climbing do you swing into tree or what?

well on ladder stands we actually don't have them but we have the strap already around the tree so you can hook onto it before you even turn around or climb onto the platform

A lot of people tie up once in the tree but 90% or so of accidents happen while getting into or out of the stand, not once in it

i agree! This is when it happens, im TERRIFIED of heights and when i hunt with other people who use lock ons i freaking hate climbing and trying to tie my strap to the tree. Even worse every year when i go on hunts to kentucky and all they have is lock on stands that are 30' up and sketchy as hell. Im shaking like a leaf when i get to the top!

fish whistles

maybe you should search it.

My worst hunting weekend was when I was stuck in East Texas cutting a core sample and all my friends were hunting.

The thing you see when a girl is wearing her skirt way too short.
"Wow, did you see that girl's dress?"
"YES!! I could see her fish whistle!"

Not worst but

After a morning hunt I was walking out when some wild dogs ran a 140's ten point right at me without barking, I didn't notice until he was on top me and tried a shot at 10 ft with a 30-06, missed that some bitch.

Hit a sapling I never saw, I'm still pissed too.

Went on a turkey hunting weekend with a couple of friends. Had no idea what I was getting into. Hobos would have called this place trashy. Mice walked upon us in our sleep. The host flicked one across the room and I heard it hit some loose items in a corner. There were so many mosquitoes, we burned citronella inside. I was pulling black soot boogers for 4 days.

I saw more hunters than turkeys. The turkeys i saw were running for their life.

Got stuck in the very back of my old duck lease on a north wind. Had a great hunt but when leaving I knew I was fricked. Pulled the boat from the bank while the boat is still in the canal over 3 miles till I found some deep enough water in the front part of the marsh. Made it to the launch. Unloaded the boat and the bike won't start. It's about 1:00 pm now and we are all hungry and thirsty and my dog is beat down to hell walking through salt grass. One of my buddy's left the key on. So I tell him to grab the battery off the boat and we can use that to start the 4-wheeler. Well this is in the infant stages of cell phones and obviously I had no service so I tell him to jump the bike while I try to call my dad but have no success. Dumbass hooks the battery cable up backwards and blows the fuse. At this point i just start walking. He scurries to grab everything as he has no idea where to go. We then walk another 2 miles down the gravel road to hwy 82 and hitch a ride to the camp after hopping the gate. Got back around 4:00 pm. Asked my Dad WTF why didn't he come looking. He says he just figured we got stuck and would eventually make our way out. Yep he was right.
