What's your threshold for canceling a fishing trip due to weather?

Just curious as I am relatively new to boating. A buddy and I had planned on fishing out of the northshore tomorrow morning around lake P and Rigolets. I'd been watching the weather today and finally called him up and said we should probably call it off. There's a 60-70% chance of rain around daybreak and with the thunderstorms in New Orleans tonight it kinda seemed like a no brainer to call it, especially since I lack experience and haven't been caught out on the water in a big storm - didn't want tomorrow to be that day.
It just sucks losing a day on the water knowing how quickly the forecast can change. I'm gonna be pissed when I wake up tomorrow to sunny skies

Probably shouldn't have fished today. Still put a few in the box.
It depends where I'm fishing too. I'm ms, I'll pass on crossing the sound in 2-3 foot seas. I fish with a guide out of LaRose where it literally doesn't matter. If rain in is in the forecast I just bring a rain suite. He'll do his best to dodge storms and he'll always put you on fish but he has much more protected marsh in his backyard

Lot of variables, type of boat you're fishing out of, the waters, and most importantly wind. I crossed lake pontchartrain today and no way in hell will it be fishable until this weather calms down for a day or so. This is especially true if you're fishing for trout.

Bingo. I got out in BSL today and knew trout was out of the question. Hell, I knew that by the forecast

If I don't trust the experience of myself or whomever I'm with in the situation I'll sit my happy arse at the house and watch an old football game and cook a decent breakfast
