i hate it when other people are dicks for no reason.
i hate it when people litter. (this includes not taking down your god damned marker flags when you're done for the season.)
i hate it when people shoot wood ducks after hours. if you do it, don't come telling me you "easily got your limit of woodies". it takes exactly zero skill to shoot a bunch of wood ducks coming in after shooting hours. not to mention it ruins the hole you're hunting.
ETA: i guarantee you i have ruined some woodie spots though by hunting them out during the morning/day, so i guess i'm guilty of that too. but it still bugs the shite out of me when people shoot past shooting hours.

Apart from them being bigger than other ducks, I don't see the big draw for mallards over other ducks. Many others taste as good or better (grays or woodies/teal respectively, at the least). Also many others are better looking IMO. It does make for a pretty striking strap photo I'll admit, but not more than say, a bunch of woodies or pintails.
ETA: now, i will be the first to admit i'm a terrible duck hunter, so take my opinion for what it's worth. i would love for an experienced duck hunter to tell me a good reason that mallards are the tits.

I've hunted ducks all my life and I still can't figure it out. I've also never had the opportunity to hunt land with large amounts of mallards, so it would seem I'd be all about killing them. We killed a few this year but nothing worth mentioning. I grew up killing wood ducks on the Bogue Chitto and a wood duck is still my favorite duck to hunt.
I don't want to sound like I wouldn't shoot a mallard hah because I most definitely will shoot a mallard just as quickly as any other ducks.My only thing is I hunt ducks because I like to eat ducks, and it aggravates the shite out of me when people think duck hunting is only about killing greenheads.
