What’s up with those little birds that chase bigger birds around?

Is it always the same kind of little bird? Is the bigger bird trying to do something to it’s neat?
It always reminds me of a pissed off girlfriend going off on a big baw after drinking too much and doing something stupid.
You never see the big bird fighting back.

It’s usually mockingbirds and crows. While I don’t love mockingbirds, crows are worse, so no big deal.

Why do they hate each other?

Mockingbirds are like the avian version of the honeybadger. They don’t give a shite and are not to be fricked with.

Aerodynamics and little man syndrome, for starters.

Crows are known to rob the nests of other birds.
They used to raid my purple martin houses.

I saw a bird harassing a cat once. It was flying behind the cat pecking at its tail and the cat was trotting away half speed.
Not sure why the cat just didn't turn around and smack the bird.

We had a few messing with a hawk by our house. They kept fricking with it until the hawk grabbed one and took it to the roof and started plucking the feathers off it.

Because, Israel.
I am sure some college professor would tie it to, er, eh......wrong board.
Crows are predator's and will eat baby birds. Most smaller birds, Blue Jays give them hell too, chase crows and hawks away from their nesting area.

I live at a 4 way stop in my neighborhood. My neighbor has a cat that likes to hang out in my azaleas during the day. When it walks home in the evening there’s a bird that sits on the stop sign and gives that cat hell until it gets to its house. Usually the cat doesn’t see it coming and jumps 3’ in the air when the bird catches him on the arse. This has gone on for years and the cat hasn’t figured it out.

You think the bird is being petty or does the cat have it coming? It sounds like they had a pretty bad falling out somewhere.

I see it more with red-winged black birds. I have seen dozens harassing one hawk on a power line.
I did see a mockingbird chase after a cuckoo the other day when it landed in a tree the mocking bird had a nest in.

They probably got tired of the mockingbird's shite

Karens of the bird world. No one wants to deal with their shite either.

See it all the time. Crows are assholes and the little birds go nuts on them.
Saw a funny scene a few months back in the neighborhood. A small hawk was chasing a squirrel up in the powerlines and onto a pole. The whole time a crow was sitting 10 feet away making all kinds of noise as this was happening. It was like he was cheering it on.

I've seen those little birds chasing an eagle. And I've seen a perched eagle catch the wrath of 20 crows. I don't know why they put up with it. Crows don't like Great Horned Owls either.
