Went fishing in Grande Isle last weekend. Saw at least 9 or ten between Franklin / Patterson and Grande Isle. We need a higher limit?

No doubt. But in years past, you rarely if ever saw them down here.

Higher limit? I thought it was against federal law to kill a bald eagle.

I’m for the size restriction rather than a creel limit.

All raptor populations are much higher than in decades past, including bald eagles.

Some say it's because DDT was banned, others say it's because counting methods got a lot better, and others say it's because chicken farmers don't shoot them as often as in previous generations.

I was at my property in North Central MS a couple of weeks ago and had one fly right in front of me as I was cross the dam on my tractor.

Wasn’t 30 feet from me. Flew into the trees around the lake and I lost it.

My son and I thought we saw one last year but it was too far off to be sure. No doubt on this one though.

We saw one yesterday while we are camping in south Mississippi. It was cool to see it flying over the lake.

During bow season, I use pods and am 3 for 3 on Eagle harvests.
The large male I shot is still at the taxi for a full body mount - spread eagle pose.

My kids and I saw one harass an Osprey with a clutched fish.

The osprey dropped it and the bald eagle went down to get it.

Terrebonne parish is ground zero for Louisiana eagles

Majority head way north for summer but some stick around

I remember when seeing an eagle was a big deal

This was 20 years ago but I saw one snatch a small duck out of the air down four mile bayou near lake Verret. I have no idea why it went for that duck, but it was the coolest nature thing I’ve ever personally witnessed

Maybe the rednecks, coonasses, hillbillies, thugs and everyone in between decided to stop shooting them. Just a hunch.
