Bald Eagles are no longer on the "Endagered" or "Protected" list. They are in the "Least Concerned" category.

If you would have killed one 10 years ago, then you would be facing consequences similar to killing a black bear.

I believe you can loose your hunting license for life if the ruling goes that route.
