What to use to kill briars (blackberries) that won't kill clover foodplot?

I planted a new plot in April, tilled a new area that had a bunch of briars that is open. Spread a load of pelletized lime after a soil test. Cleared everything out. Problem is I didn't spray and kill everything first. So some are coming back up. Mainly didn't due to limited time and being far away from my place.
Any idea on a product to use? If anything exists? Clover is doing great so far.

Bruh, blackberries are excellent deer forage

Blackberries are everywhere on my place, trying to establish a solid clover plot. Greenbriars too

A blackberry would be classified as a broadleaf, so I know of nothing selective that would kill the pest without harming the clover. Bonide makes BK-32, which is designed to kill briars and such in lawns, but I just downloaded the label and it's labeled to take out clover too.

Was thinking the same thing. Why kill free food?

Metsulfuron Methyl. Final answer. You're welcome.

I was hoping you'd chime in. :fistbump:

Metsulfuron Methyl kills clover at 1/3-1/2oz per acre...and blackberry at 1/2-1oz per acre.

Yea, I knew that didn't sound right. Blackberries are pretty tough compared to clover.
I wouldn't spray them though. Deer love them. Just bushhog them in the spots that they're in your way.

Yea I just saw that when reading the description. Looks like it would zap the clover?

Absolutely...blackberry calls for higher rate than clover, so technically you would be killing your clover before the briars

I would just leave it alone.
And stop driving through the plot!

Crossbow is over 30% 2,4-D

Clover is hard to kill with 24D, I've found.

Crossbow: 2 quarts/acre to kill clover
6 quarts/acre for blackberry

I don't care what that says, I'm telling you 24D does not work well in killing clover. At least not in my experience.
EDIT: It also has clover at 4 quarts per acre too.
If I were him I'd put 2oz of crowbow per gal of water in a back pack sprayer and spot spray. Will work fine.
Another thing is, EVEN IF it did kill the clover, leaving the blackberries will, too. The blackberries will overtake the clover. Sooo, nothing to lose.

I'm a licensed government pesticide applicator, the label is the law for me. I just don't want to see the man kill his clover patch
Spot treatment is the best option for sure

Yep. And something like Garlon would work with careful application. I think it would still kill the clover, but it would kill the blackberry only by spraying the stems rather than having to spray the leaves making it easier to apply selectively to the edge of the food plot. It'll also kill good trees, so OP would need to be careful.
I still don't understand why the desire to kill blackberries. They are super easy to mow with a tractor.
