Snuggler,
Your feet are most likely sweating because they get too warm when you're mobile. You need a good wicking sock as your innermost sock to lift the sweat away from your skin. I use polypropylene for this. For really cold weather, I put on a pair of wool socks over the poly. If not very cold, I put on regular cotton socks over the poly. If warm, I just wear a pair of cotton socks.
If wearing cotton, don't let your feet get warm enough to sweat. Once the cotton gets wet, it will stay wet; then your feet will stay wet and get cold.

I usually wear a pair of ankle socks and my muck boots. Anything more and my feet sweat and get cold. Sometimes ill bring a think pair in my bag just incase, but the only time I've used them is when I slide my boots off in the shooting house.

I'll wear Thorlo tennis sock that have decent padding under thick wool socks.
The Thorlo wick the moisture away from my feet and they don't get cold. This is of course under insulated waders.

Cheapo mostly cotton "insulated" sock in temps down to 35 or 40 degrees.
Below 35 degrees wool socks with the highest percentage of wool you can find. Greater than 85%...
Either way, I only wear 1 pair of socks.

Yeah, I love the mucks. Like you said, easy on and off, hose right off, super comfortable, warm, etc...I have the woody elite, the wetlands, and the camp boots. All are great.
