Op, I have a 5500 continuos 8500 peak generator wired to a manual transfer switch that runs everything in my house except my central A/C. Have two window units I pop in and I'm good to go.

Usually run fridge/freezers during day and run window units mainly at night to save on fuel. Burn about 8 gals a day running for 18-20 hrs

Interesting, do u find it runs the same on natural gas as gasoline? Been wanting to do this, was just not sure on quality of the kit

I see no real difference when its running. I guess combustion is combustion.

RPM's seem the same.

The NG regulator has a simple valve that ya turn to find the "sweet" spot when running. Real simple.

You can put a simple Tach on it if ya wanted to compare the RPM's.

There are lots of reviews on the "Snorkle", all seemed good so I went for it.

To power a normal sized fridge/freezer, tv, window unit (optional)

Add up the loads. P(watts)=I(amps)xV (voltage)

Also don't forget the amps as some electric devices have large starting amperage. For a fridge and a small window unit you will probably be fine with a 3300 watt generator. I run my 5th wheel off of two Honda EU2000 generators hooked in parallel to give 4k watts.

We used to run the hondas sy the camp (two trailer houses with a porch between) continuously with no problem. 5500 watts I believe for esch trailer. 5 gal of gas every 12-14 hours I'd guess.

Honda's are good generators but even they will break if you push them beyond their duty cycle.

Most of those cheap generators with B&S or Tecumseh engines are just not made to be pushed that hard.

You might be able to get away with it for awhile, but it will catch up eventually, and usually at the worst possible moment, that's all I'm saying.

I have a 5500 watt no-name that I got from sams that has served me well through three hurricanes...runs a pretty good bit of minor shite, but you can't run a microwave or anything major on it...runs fans, tv, window units, fridge just fine...it is not like things are normal, but you can get by without food spoiling or sweating too much...

running around the clock, it typically burns about 12 or so gallons...fwiw, that is about $60 per day in gasoline...

Maintenance is more of an issue than anything. Even my Chonda powered 4000W has run for days at a time. Royal Purple 10W30, treated fuel if no E isn't available, and an hour/rpm meter. Keep it stored with no fuel in it, covered and a good dose of fogging oil.
