Besides corn? I've tried milo before but they never got on it. Try'n to keep em happy on my property until season starts. Don't want them wandering to neighbors property.

Don't bait turkeys. That's not turkey hunting, I don't care if it's legal wherever you are doing it.

But, Chicken scratch grains are like crack for turkeys, I've heard.

Not a damn thing, if I'd need to bait turkey to kill em I'd quit hunting and start shooting red birds.

I've been turkey hunting since 86 and hunt many diff properties from la to ms to al and don't baint any of them "to hold them"

U need to improve ur woodsman ship

I don't have a problem with that cause u are taking the effort to actually improve the habitat, that being said I wish I could but don't, that shite is expensive

We plant milo and leave fields standing till fall and leave strips in milo to give the poults bugging spots in late summer

So what do you have a problem with, he never said "baiting", did he? I'm not exactly sure, but i think his words were similar to:

" Try'n to keep em happy on my property until season starts. Don't want them wandering to neighbors property".

Nothing nevermind!

They prefer dumptruck loads of cracked corn deployed in a food plot up untill the day of the season, then set up a ground blind and wear blue jeans and t shirt and shoot one with a 2/ rifle out of the blind at 150 yds away when they come to feed. Whatever u do, dont learn the terrain, and pattern em, just set in the blind over that patch!!! U dont need a call either

Eta: different strokes for diff folks, im just a traditionalist who started turkey hunting when u had to hunt them, hell u were lucky to hear one every 5 mornings of hunting!!

Of course that was before the population renounded and before wild game nation started shooting em there way out of a double bull in a high fence with a 10 gauge at 100 yds

So my "woodsman ship" can keep them from going to another property? Thanks, dick.

I do at my property further south, don't have luxury of a spot to plant it at this place.

They destroy it where I plant it though.

They arent all aka "the whole flock" gonna leave ur property between now and march bc u arent feeding them, all the places i hunt we have them in fall and spring. An summer and winter.

Killing turkeys is way too easy now compared to what it was in the early nineties

I put winter wheat and cracked corn out in a few areas on my lease until about March 1. It will do what you are looking for.

Contrary to what many are telling you in here it's been my observation if you keep them on your place until they break up into mating groups you WILL have more birds on your property come turkey season.

Easy there fellas. I believe what my fellow Felecianian is trying to say is if able, you can plant forage and provide habitat which will be more beneficial long term than scattering a sack of corn or birdseed and planning short term.
