What would cause this? Squib load, or over pressured ammo?

Probably using it as a walking stick or something. He must have put the barrel in the ground and it filled with a bit of mud.

I check my muzzle constantly on my auto, and remove the bolt and look down the barrel on my bolt gun. A dude I knew had this happen, except his split 4 ways.
