What can be done after a bass sees you?

I fish clear water with current, pitching crankbaits while the boat drifts. Occasionally I will look down and see bass in the vicinity (sometimes good size fish). I normally can't get them to hit on anything, even if I drift past or move off some distance. I assume this is just like being busted by a deer?

Switch to a soft plastic or something that you can leave in the strike Zone for a longer period than a crankbait

The hardest fish to catch is the one you can see. Grandpa full of quotes.

During the spawn you might be able to get away with running up close enough where the bass can see you. During that time of the year they will do anything to protect the nest so you can work them a bit.

Outside of the spawn it is pretty tough. Not saying you won't pick up a fish or two that can see you however most of them will look up and then swim off. As stated by Geaux23 a slow moving soft plastic is your best bet.

When I run up on a fish i typically move on and circle back in 10-20 minutes.

Unless it's really big one I just move on. I'm not the best sight fishermen in the world, much less when ones looking at me.

Just mark it an come back to it later. Almost impossible to get them to bite once spooked.

I have never fished a fly.

Sometimes they will swim up and stare at the boat.

Pitch a hot dog weiner straight into the strike zone then jig it up and down till he either takes it or haul a**

Try throwing a salamander in on their bed and just bump it off the bottom. If nothing else you will puss them off enough that they will bite it just to move it out of their bed area.

If only Costa made a pair. I see a niche in the market for these.

I've reeled stuff right by them, dropped jigs next to them, and hopped worms around them. From what I've found, 90% of the fish I can see aren't hungry. They just sit there looking at my bait like a bunch of assholes. Evidently, those fish don't get memos

You're looking for a reaction strike. Honestly the most luck I've had is literally dropping a trick worm on their face.

They usually back up and then hammer it.

Nah, I'll sit there with a worm or jig for a couple of minutes, and they just look at it. Now, I'll just throw a spinner a couple feet away twice, and then move on
