Yeah, there's a certain amount of camaraderie and mutual respect between us because of our shared love of the outdoors.
Even heated discussions don't get out of control with name calling and insults. I think the average age of posters is probably alot older than the OT also. Tons of immature asshats on the OT.

This board does a good job managing itself. The IM threads are just as bad as the other boards, but we try to keep it in one thread at a time with a clear title so those who don't care to IM can stay away.
Occasionally the OTishness does spill over into some threads, but usually it is stomped out.
