Meh, nothing to see here. Private company, etc.

I do note that if she had a problem with the policy, perhaps she could have challenged it in some way rather than take a "better to ask for forgiveness than permission" approach.

Sometimes it is better to ask permission first.

The policy itself is like most gun-free zone policies: stupid.

Yup. My company has a policy not to carry on premises, but state law states they can't keep me from keeping it in my car. I also work 3 hours from our office, so it doesn't really apply to me anyway.

I did point out that the signage on our building isn't technically legal... In order to be by the full letter of the law in Texas, you have to have a 30.06 sign posted.

Not saying your wrong, but please reference that information regarding the financial industry if you can find it.

I have no proof and that is why I qualified the statement. I have simply been told that by people in the business. Could be totally false.

I used to work for Wells years ago. I never carried on site but always had a gun in my car. They would make us sign employee agreements that said no guns anywhere, even in parking lots that may be public. I just kept my mouth shut and didnt worry about the agreement.

Not sure I can agree with the employee on this one however.

I did risk my job by open carrying when I had to enter the office 1 week after Katrina. I was the only one there and just figured the risk was worth it considering the rumors going at that time.
