sitting in my stand once and heard a rustling sound. Looked down and see a snake hauling tail, just in time to see him snatch up a frog.
Mink swimming with a dead catfish in it's mouth. It would try to dive, but couldn't pull the fish under. Looked like a cork
In back of Lake Fausse Pointe is a big cypress tree out way off the bank in 4 feet of water. There's an oak tree growing out of one of the forks. It's easily as big around as my thigh, and even produces acorns. Guess a bird dropped an acorn? It's been quite a few years since I passed by there.

Grew up in Bedico. Graduated from Ponchy. Traveled esterbrook umpteen times. Been in Hammond for many years now.

Holeyboard tourney is special to me. I pretty much grew up down Tangi river...great memories. Don't get down much anymore with kids playing sports. The Wheat's have been there for years. They were there when I was much younger.

I was wood duck hunting one morning and I was sitting in the blind on the side of a canal waiting for the sun to come up. While waiting I started hearing this rustling sound all around me. It is literally surrounding me. I had no idea what the heck was going on.

I waited until daylight and started looking around behind me.. HUNDREDS of Armadillos were everywhere. As far as the eye could see. I had never seen anything like that and I haven't seen it since then despite hunting that same spot my entire life. After the sun came up it took them about 15 minutes to disperse and eventually they all slinked back into the woods. It was the most bizarre thing I've seen while hunting.

I watched a cat squirrel push a box turtle shell about 50 ft up a water oak into his nest. He chewed on it for a while, making a ton of noise, then it fell out the nest. He crawled down the tree, used one hand and his mouth to hold onto the shell, kinda pushing that thing up the tree. He must have dropped it 10 times, but he finally got it back into the nest and went to chewing on it again. Damndest thing I'd ever seen.

Well I'm not the only one from Bedico that knows how to Internet!

Born and raised on C.C. Road. Moved in 03.

Just saw you mentioned the Wheat's. I played ball with them at ponchy.

How old are you?

I found a spot in the basin while cruising timber one day that I swear to God is where all balloons go to die. There were hundreds in the trees

this reminded me of the time I was hunting in St. Francisville...I was on the edge of a oak ridge before daylight...I heard rustling all around and as the sun came up there were hundreds of fox squirrels moving in a huge herd...I had heard of migrating herds of squirrels before but had never witnessed it...

4:30 AM and the sun was bright, it was July, snow was falling, and the mosquitoes were fierce at Prudhoe Bay. Surreal.

The Alaska/Canada border. For some reason the trees are cleared at the border to mark it, even in wilderness. Seems idiotic.

Here is a link to a thread that has been active for I think 15 years or so that contains many very interesting stories about weird experiences while out in the woods.

Warning: This thread is very addictive and entertaining. It may take you a long time to get through, but I promise you, you will enjoy it.

LINK

I linked to the 24th page of thread, be sure to go back to the beginning of the thread.

Oh, and it's only about 8-9 years old.

Manatee at the regoletts l n l train bridge about ten years ago when I was fishing with some high school buddies (17years ol) rose up right next to our boat.. We freaked out didn't know what the hell we saw..we had that express skint back getting out of there within seconds

30 dead cows around a tree all on there backs with legs straight up..in New Mexico saw them from about 1/2 mile away and it looked like the were all worshipping the sun got closer and saw they were dead told the farmer and he was pissed said he had been all over the mountains looking for them and said they must have huddled under the tree and gotten struck by lightning then swollen up in the sun and rolled over..crazy looking shite wish I'd taken a picture

Fishing offshore out of SW Pass in Venice for snapper in about 300' of water. Facing south, I saw something huge jump out of the water and I saw a white underbelly and black fins. I thought, no way did I just see an orca here in Venice. Later that week, there were pics posted from a platform that showed a pod of orcas swimming around it. I didn't even know there were orcas in the Gulf.
