One of the two is the extended mag, per the normal kit.

Both are doing this. They are not allowing me to feed the correct amount of rounds. They keep stopping 1 round short, and I have to use a ton of force to get the next to last one in. I mean I have to reach the point it feels like I am breaking my thumbs to get them in. The final rounds I can't even get halfway down.

Has anyone seen or heard of an issue like this? It only started around late November, at least....that I noticed. Shot through them again on Monday and it was even worse than before.

How many are you putting in each one?

I can fit 6 in the 7, and 7 in the 8.

I have 2 15-round Sig mags that will only accept 14 rounds. It's been that way since they were brand new.

I have an XDM 40 that fits 16 rounds. I have to use a speed loader to get them all in. Have you tried using a speed loader?

When I shot mine for the first time last week I had the same problem. Was extremely hard to load rounds into the mags and getting the last one in really hurt my thumb.

I chalked it up to being new. I even put a little lube on the follower when I cleaned the gun when I first opened it up. Might try putting some graphite powder on them to see if that'll help the followers slide more easily.

While I was at the indoor range I looked at a few speed loaders and this Maglula worked really well. They didn't have the insert that's in the picture which is needed for single stack and 1911 mags but it still worked well. The insert will help keep the magazine from wiggling side to side.

For the record, this gun is 2 yrs old, and I'm the second owner.

I've put upwards of 200 rds through it since I got it in the summer. But this literally just started happening in November. Worse, it seems like every time I shoot it, it gets harder to work with.

Speed loader may be my only option moving forward. Unless new mags are cheaper.

I own the maglula and I promise you it is worth every penny for pistol mags. I don't go to the range without it, ever.

Made a great Christmas gift as well.

Gotta get a speed loader. I had the same issue with my 9mm shield. Maglula all the way.

My shield was only the second pistol I've ever bought, my first was a Springfield XD and it came with its own speedloader. I was spoiled thinking all semi autos came with one.

Have you taken the mags apart yet?

This, might be some trash in the magazine keeping the follower from going all the way down.

I have some 15-round P229 mags for the M11-A1. I had that problem. When you get to the last two or three rounds, slam the bottom of the mag against the palm of your hand a couple times. That settles the rounds in a double stack magazine and makes it much easier. I purchased a maglula for 9mm mags, and I still have to settle the rounds against the palm of my hand to get the 15th round in.

I dont have a shield and have next to no experience with that gun. But i had that same problem with some of my 1911 mags. I about went apeshit when i suddenly could only get 7 in each 8 round mag after I disassembled and cleaned them for the first time. I made damn sure not to replace the spring backwards, but it still fricked up. I finally realized (thankfully right before i started destroying things in my immediate vicinity ) that i had to put a specific loop of the spring around a hook on the mag a certain way. Once i did that, it worked.

Sorry, that probably doesnt make sense. Not using my words good right now.

What I'm gonna mention is unlikely, since you're having issues with both mags, but ---- have you dropped or otherwise damaged the mags?

If the mag body is bent, the follower can't side up and down properly.

Trash in the mags was already mentioned. Again, unlikely if both started giving trouble at the same time.

The correct solution is to buy two more to use while you send your two to S&W for repair/replacement.
