Haven't seen one of these in awhile. I used to enjoy seeing all the animals you dudes terrorized over the weekends.

So, what'd/how'd everybody do?

You're right though, haven't seen one of these threads in a while. I used to look forward to all the weekly bragging.

Not from this past weekend, but I'll throw in something from the previous weekend.

7.5 lbs in Toledo Bend on a spinnerbait.

That's a monster dude.

I didn't really do anything this weekend either except throw my flyrod for a bit in the pond in my back yard. I caught a few decent fish and a bunch of perch.

Sight fished some reds solo yesterday in the marsh. Even got to catch a few on the flyrod.

eta: sorry photos are so big.

Killed a bunch of crawfish, oysters and BL's. Caught Sunday and Monday over 300lbs of catfish on trot lines. Got some pictures, but to lazy to down load them.

Fresh flathead was dinner tonight.

After failing at spin fishing ALL day, I tried my fly rod and got a two pound spotted bass.

Loved it. Largest fish caught on a fly rod ever for me.

Did you catch those reds fly fishing out of a kayak?

Solid. I'm working on figuring out if I need to get a better kayak to stand up in for flyfishing for reds or if I can do it the cheap route and stick with what I have.

Perception pescador 12. It's a great value and it does everything I need it to do but let me stand. I really feel like I'd like to be able to stand if I'm going to fly fish in the marsh so I'm looking hard at everything from a Native Slayer to a Jackson Big Rig.

I can't speak for that one because I've never been in one, but I have a Native 14.5 Slayer and it's plenty stable enough to fly fish out of. I've been in Jacksons too and the same goes for them.

If it were me and I already had a kayak and I wanted to fly fish, I'd get get a stand up paddle board. Unless you're just not happy with your kayak or you've got to paddle a long distance to get to the fish, the SUP makes more sense to me. I bought one late last season and haven't had a chance to use it yet this year with the wind and the rain. Bote makes some great SUPs for fishing and you'll spend less on it than a new Jackson kayak with all the rigging. Just something to consider.

ETA: weekend results- tried fishing Sabine area Sunday and didn't catch squat. The water was high and moving something fierce. Couldn't troll up river and the arse end of the boat kept trying to pass the trolling motor going down river.

The Sabine is going to be high and swift for a while with all the water they're letting out of Toledo. Hit up the Calcasieu if you're in SWLA. Plenty of cuts and canals to fish out of the current.

Native Slayer to a Jackson Big Rig

I have a Slayer 14.5 and can stand up and fish in it however the Big Rig is way more stable. The Slayer will be stable enough for most people but you can walk up and down the Big Rig with no problems.
