heard a lot of shooting in the woods this weekend with the opening of the squirrel season...
went fishing and scouting out some duck holes...at least that's my story...

35 squirrels between 6 boys ages 7-11. Not bad at all, the young uns shot really well. 20 males 15 females

Tried shooting a deer with my new crossbow. Didn’t see anything on the first hunt and didn’t feel like fighting skeeters again

Only deer I saw this weekend was a button buck. Tried to shoot a hog at 57 yds with my bow, but missed low.

Not this weekend per se but from 10/1-5. Shot 3 does in Oklahoma. We had to come back earlier than we wanted due to this storm that was supposed to hit here.

Caught 25# of shrimp, 3 dozen nice crabs, 4 reds, and 1 speck yesterday in Cameron parish.

Took the kayak to Lake Martin Saturday morning. Fish were busting bait all over the place. But it was still a little difficult to get bit. They just weren't committing to it. Caught around 10, kept 5. No hammers, but a few decent fish.
Had them for dinner tonight. Just got finished blackening them little shits.
That lake is just beautiful. Even when not catching its hard not to enjoy yourself.

ETA: I too heard lots of gunshots. But there were hardly any boats on the water. So that made me happy.

Missed a chip shot on a doe yesterday morning, rushed my shot.
We saw 8 between two of us but it was freaking hot, I was hunting in a T shirt and sweating balls at daylight.

12 squirrels this weekend hunting with my 5yo. Pretty impressive handicapped with the piece of tin following in behind me the whole time. Good squirrel crop this year.

I only shot it 3 times before going out. Wasn’t comfortable with that yet. Was really hoping to just stick two in one hunt
