I've tried a lot but cedar works the best. It floats, you cannot pull a screw out of it, and it carves and sands easy.

They cost about .50 cents to make. Plus a few hours labor.

I don't have a workspace after I moved, haven't been able to make any, but if ever I do, I got you down. It sucks, I almost enjoy making them more than fishing, almost.
