Damn... Just balancing there? I thought it might be nailed to it but then I wondered why would someone nail a big board like that to such a small tree. Not sure where yall were hunting... Possible it flooded and that's how the board ended up?

Edit: Upon a closer look. Seems like there's some leaves wedged under it also... Tells me that it might have been put there by flood waters?

Prescribed burns (and a properly timed fire interval) are a crucial part of proper ecosystem management all over the coastal plain.
Where did he get his wildland fire experience?
Does he handle it himself or contract it out?
