We all know deer feeders mostly throw corn, and country style rats love a fresh supply of hard to get corn. So naturally a feeder will attract rats. In turn, the rats attract snakes looking to eat the rats. With our mild fall and early winter, be on the look out. My buddy got bit last week by a rattler filling up his feeder in central Texas.

Full disclosure, I made all that up off the top of my head. But I feel like it's a myth we could start spreading and always feel good any time we hear someone say it in the future around a camp fire. Like, "I started that... Nice".

What you baws think? Y'all down?

What kind of rattler? If it was a copper headed water rattler then it's not the mice he's after but the actual corn itself. Try switching to raisin bran and see if that helps because the raisins are poisonous to the copper headed water rattlers.

If it was one of the rattlers that looks like a small man dressed up in a pizza delivery uniform, then you're pretty much fricked because they eat fawns.

I've found several rattlers around feeders, mainly in late summer. Tackled my dad once when he was about to step on one.

He had pissed me off earlier in the day (I was 16-17). Got to tackle the old man without repercussion and shoot a snake. Was a good time

Killed a timber rattler last Friday within 20 yards of my Bil's feeder. Damn Clyde, you're a fricking genius.
