Would like to go as close as possible to Louisiana but achieve the following...
1) Fish for reds and snook
2) Possibly have a campground somewhere to pitch a tent and build a fire
This is kind of what I envision

Brandon Barton/Emerald Waters Kayak Charters may be what you're looking for. I know they do offshore and inshore guided trips.

Whether you go with Matthew or Bra don, you're likely to fish with both. Closest you will find snook is Tampa.

1) Get south of the Crystal River and Homosassa if you are staying in the gulf.

2) KOA has decent campgrounds close to the water or ramps here around St Pete. They are pretty full until Easter when all the snowbirds head back north with their RVs and campers. A few also sell firewood on location.

If I was going to make a trip with your criteria I would look at Fort Desoto.

Killer fishing with mangroves on one side and beaches on the other. Several small islands to loop around and fish. Piers on gulf and bay sides. If you want a day off you can do the tourist thing and check out the old fort and batteries. Or go check out the local talent on the beaches. All from the same island.

This is mostly true. Late summer you can find them up around Weeki Wachee.

"Wakulla County"

No Snook. Pretty good kayak fishing though.

And there are few better ways to wake up than secluded on your own island right in some of the hottest fishing grounds in the country

They have snook and reds on the Atlantic side? I didn't think there were any mangroves on that side.

My brother is in Sarasota and they catch snook & mangrove snapper from their kayaks regularly. I'm trying to get down in early fall to get in on the action.

Fishing is smoking hot down here around St Pete. All these fish have been caught pretty recently over the winter.

Trout showed up in February. Got these Tuesday night.

Super Bonus the Tarpon are back. We landed this one about two weeks ago while fishing for Snook. Fought him down a stretch of private beach for a half hour. Had the Sheriff called on us for trespassing. He showed up and ended up taking the pictures of the fish for us. Said he would trespass as well if he had a fish that big on.

Is early June a good time to hit Mosquito Lagoon?
