A friend needs some votes to help when a contest. Rather than submit her own personal dream paddle trip, she's trying to win the money to help establish a paddle event/ race in Plaquemine to promote paddling in the Baton Rouge area.
She can use some votes. Contest ends in three days and you can vote once a day. You'll have to verify your email address only once.

Help turn the dream of a few paddlers into an extraordinary journey for many. The dream is to establish a Lock-to-Lock Paddlesports Series that sparks interest in paddlesports & an appreciation for local waterways among residents of & visitors to Iberville & West Baton Rouge Parishes in south Louisiana. The series would include three paddling-related events: 1) a set of children’s races with age-appropriate distances, 2) a 25-mile, “Lock-to-Lock” race for adults, and 3) an on-land festival. Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park – with its boat docks, fishing pier, & open-air pavilion – is a great location for finish lines & on-land festivities. Between 1909 & 1961, historic Plaquemine Lock (at Waterfront Park) connected the mighty Mississippi River to the intracoastal canal system that extends to the Gulf of Mexico. Now, the Port Allen Locks serve this role. The series’ keystone race, extending 25mi between the new & old locks, will symbolize the region’s long-standing role in national & international navigation & its potential for positive economic & recreational growth. In Louisiana-style, the festival will spread word about different kinds of paddlesports, local paddling adventures, & ways we can work together to improve environmental conditions & recreational opportunities. Please vote for this dream! $10,000 will help create a Lock-to-Lock Series & spawn more dreams of paddling adventures in our region.
TIA.

I've done the canoe races for the 4th of July at the locks. They are fun.
