The dry weather has been nice for me. We'all be wrapping things up for the year on the farm in the next weeks or so as far as field work goes... I am ready for some cold weather though

Can anyone explain how the ms river is rising at the new orleans guage, when there is a drought north of us?

When you say "north of us," exactly how far north?

They've had some pretty big rains in the Midwest the last month or so. It's got to drain somewhere.

But looking at the 5 day forecast, I don't see a notable rise.

It is finally dropping slightly. It has been abnormally high this summer. It's still in the 4 foot range and doesn't look like it will get any lower. This time of year it should be around 2 feet. Makes a big difference in terms of offshore species of fish coming in closer.

I see... The Yazoo dumps into the MS River north of Vicksburg and its levels effect where we farm, so I usually only look from Vicksburg north until we get into a flood situation.
