Caught 30+ trout today (solo trip), again releasing fish 18+, brought 20 home.
Almost all fish caught tightlining green w/ black stripes in the cove to the immediate right leaving the bayou--Boudreaux?? (launched at first drawbridge past Chauvin).
Even in all of this wind I caught a limit of trout yesterday and again today. BIG. Probably released 7 fish over 21 inches yesterday (I know I released at least four bc I measured the first ones).
Today I took out my tagging kit and tagged and released 10 (ran out of tags). Biggest was 22 inches and tagged 2 others just over 18. Had a limit plus easy but kept only about 15---still haven’t cleaned yesterday’s catch.
Kicker: Left yesterday at 12:30, today I got out early….left at 11.
Second kicker: Every fish was caught on a top water Mirrolure. SON !!!!

Pretty much pushes me to go this w/e. I'll be in Boudreaux.
Last time there, had multiples in the high teens low twenties.
Good to hear.

This guy just wants to fish decade this weekend and is trying to get some people to stay east of the navigational canal
Kinda like they did with the "state record trout" caught at the mardi gras rigs last summer when last island was hot

Ok. I'm confused. Why were you tagging specks? And we're you releasing the big ones and keeping the small ones?

Deer Bayou— deep water, fishing the edges near the dropoff. Got a couple of bites, dropped the anchor and finished up yesterday. Returned today, one stop shopping.
The tagging program is the LA Cooperative Marine Sport Fish Tagging Program. I believe you can find info on CCA’s website. I’ll go find the link bc I need more tags
Yes, I was tagging and releasing the bigger ones, except for a couple/few 18 – 20 inch fish that had trebles in the gills.

The Sat. bf Katrina hit my son & I were tagging bullreds in Caminada Pass. Months later I was contacted bc a fish was recovered w/ my tag, but they hadn’t received my data cards. I told them it was storm related, apologized and sent in the cards. They said they’d contact me w/ retrieval info. I was thinking the fish had traveled miles and miles, etc.
Turns out the red was also caught in Caminada---the same day

Caught a tagged speck at a rig not far from Boudoin Pt. that was tagged six months earlier about 5 yrs. ago.
My dad's at the camp at Four Pt. tonight and fishing tomorrow. But, he doesn't usually have to run that far for his limit this time of year.
We have caught some nice limits there before, though. Just not on topwater. Nothing beats that.

Is there a deer bayou close to Dulac or are you talking about the one that drains into Mechant?
