Son and I are doing an Appleseed clinic next weekend. I built him an light weight 10/22 for the occasion.

Started with a stock hardwood 10/22

Kidd ULW threaded barrel
Blackhawk Axiom stock
Pike Arms extended rail
Volquartsen target hammer and extractor
Crossfire extended mag release
Weaver quadlock rings
Weaver RV7 scope
I radiused the rear of the bolt and added the auto bolt release myself.

4lbs 8oz as it sits right now. The weight will be closer to 5lbs once I swap the stock out for a Magpul CTR and add the 3/4" riser to it. It started around 6.5 lbs. Changing the scope to the weaver knocked off 8oz. The barrel knocked off another 9oz. The rest of the weight loss was in the stock which was right at a pound. For a 11yo the weight makes a huge difference in handling.

I have been shooting a Rimfire Rifle in steel challenge with a tactical solutions X-ring. It weights 3.7lbs, and you want to talk about fun speed shooting with that thing!

I sure your son with love shooting that thing! Those Kidd barrels are tack drivers.

If you don't mind me asking, how much $$ do you have in the gun, including the stock 10/22?

I'm thinking about buying a 10/22 and do I g something similar.

What sighting system do you use to get it down to 3.7lbs? Red dot?

I contemplated the X-ring and the X-ring SBX but in the end went with the Kidd because of the steel tenon over all of the other lightweight barrels.

Holosun 507

Also 3.7lbs is the rifle alone. So with the holosun it’s technically around 3.9lbs

Oh lord don't make me add it up

Kidd ULW threaded barrel ($208)
Blackhawk Axiom stock ($70)
Pike Arms extended rail ($25)
Volquartsen target hammer ($39)
Kidd Extractor and guide rod ($28)
Crossfire extended mag release ($19)
Weaver quadlock rings
Weaver RV7 scope

So 389 including tax and shipping for all the upgrades. IIRC I got the Ruger on sale for about $208 after taxes several years ago. So lets say $600 all in right now.

You interested in parting with the spare parts? Would like a 10/22, but budget conscience right now.

The rail and scope rings still look a little “husky” to me. Talleys ftw.

What are you wanting?

I have a Ruger 10/22 barrel and also a Green mountain bull barrel.

Also the original carbine stock

Stock is a Blackhawk Axiom which is the lightest stock I could find for a 10/22. $70 shipped at Midway about a year ago. Not sure what the going rate it.
