Do check for any soft spots in the floor

Done this, nothing that we've found. Apparently the floor is some sort of composite material to minimize hull weight.

The guy selling painted the blue about 3 years ago. He hated the original "sea green". A couple quarts of sapphire blue from West Marine will have it looking like new again, supposedly.

Thought about this... You have any contacts in the BR/Denham area? What does this entail? Do we have to bring the boat to someone or can they come to the boat?

Planning on it

when you go look at it, bring you a little container of rubbing compound and try a small spot on the blue, you would be surprised how paint will bounce back once you get the oxidation off. If it doesnt shine up you could use that to knock the price down a little

I like the blue better too, but I hate the thought of painting over gel coat

Do check for any soft spots in the floor. It looks like its been in the weather its hold life. Also check all calking to see if any was replaced. Get a look at the fuel tank too. Note to self: take fishfighter with me to look at any used boat before purchase.

I don't know which boat you're referring to, but stay on it. I've seen on numerous occasions, esp dealing with some of the people on sportsman, that the "deals" fall through. Either someone doesn't show up or the financing doesn't work out. You just never know. Stay in contact with the seller and make sure that he knows exactly how interested you are.

Nothing wrong with painting over gelcoat as long as it is done right.

To the OP. Don't know anyone in your area, but there are a few in New Orleans. You would have to bring to boat to save money and time. The survey report will have everything checked from plumbing to Elec to the hull and trailer. They can take the boat to a shop to have the motors check, but you can do that and save money.

One other thing. Make sure that there is a clear title on the boat and trailer along with if the seller had insurance. Reason is that any boat older then 10 years old is very hard to get insurance unless you do have a full survey done. And then it is still hard to get.

This. Repowering either or both would really add some coin to your cost. 3 words... leak down test

Well, we took the boat on the test run this past Saturday. After about 15 minutes of running one of the motors threw a rod in a cylinder. That motor is toast. Needless to say, we didn't go through with the purchase.

It seems like we finally had a stroke of good luck that it happened this past weekend and not next weekend. I do feel pretty bad for the guy selling though.

Before buying used always get the serial numbers and call a dealer, they can give you the pedegry of those motors and everything done to them.
