I know I saw somewhere on here about painting kayaks, but I have looked and can't find it. We need to press the PA into hunting service. so what do y'all think is the best way? making a blind, COCO? Painting, camo plastidip, a wrap?

That's a lot of yellow to hide.......

fastest way/best way is to buy a chapman. You'll destroy that fancy paddle drive thing in the mud/shells/stumps. g'luck

Kayak and ATV plastics have a ton of oil in them, and are very difficult to paint.
No matter what you use, it will peel/flake off if you hit anything.

The correct method would cost you almost as much as a new kayak - plastic adhesion primer such as Bulldog, then auto paint.

If you still want to do it and do it cheap - sand the whole thing down with 320 grit sandpaper, wipe down with wax & grease remover (or acetone), and use Krylon Fusion paint on it.

We won/t use the mirage drive for hunting. That's what the trolling motor drive is for. :)

I would make a blind. But if you do decide to paint it, make sure you get some paint that is plastic-approved so you don't hurt the yak. Another option would be to get some vinyl cut for it, but that would probably be $$$$.

Here is my yak blind, and you can't really see the yak when on the water:

camo netting or bolts of camo cloth wrapped around it.

or buy something brown or drab in the first place.

have you had luck hunting out of it? or do you use it to get where you're going and then get out of it and hide the yak and hunt by a tree or in grass?

We have hunted and shot from them. No problems whatsoever and we have yet to flare birds in them even though they are way lighter than the surrounding vegetation.

nah bruh. No need. I've been hunting for a bazillion years smokin the green heads without face paint so if you paint then u r gay. And anyone who wears it don't know anything, especially those duck commander boys. If you've ever blown a DC call you might as well turn in your man card. #imane-hardass #nosugarassesoverhere #whendidtheobbecometheot...

Burlap and camo netting will be good enough. Once you get set up use a little native grass and brush to blind in.

I think stashing it and hunting away from it if its shallow is the best bet though.

I certainly can be guilty of getting a little carried away.

I think what I will do this weekend is use some green windscreen I saved when we replaced the windscreen on the baseball field. I will put that over it and pull down some Spanish moss and throw on that and then push it under the button willows. by the time they see it.......

Stuff like that ends up being so much more useful than anything packaged for hunters at 10X the price.
