I have a dock over the edge of a bayou and the saw grass (cut grass) is starting to grow through the deck boards. I weed eat it down to the roots but it will grow right back.

Any chemical I can spray to kill it, but not be a water hazard?

This is before it was bad.

Roundup sprayed very carefully or "painted" on the grass?

quote:

Pure glyphosate is low in toxicity to fish and wildlife

quote:

Although it is toxic, the active chemical, glyphosate, binds with soil. This means that glyphosate that comes in contact with the ground will not run off into water systems and becomes inactive. The substance also appears to be mostly nontoxic for mammals, including people, who eat food which was near plants treated with Roundup.

But then,

quote:

However, when glyphosate reaches rivers and streams, it is very toxic to aquatic life. Glyphoste can travel to waterways if it falls on asphalt or blows away on the wind.

They have aquatic versions of glyphosate that are specifically labeled for use in water. Not sure of the regs when spraying a navigable waterway though..

I just don't want to be spraying something and lose the lease. I also eat the fish I catch right off the dock.
