Truck with a Camper Shell

I recently bought a Toyota Tacoma that had a camper shell on it. While trying to sell it I ran across a topic on tacomaworld.com where people where sharing pics what they use their camper shell for and it was pretty neat. With that being said does anyone on this board use their camper shell for camping? Any pics?

Not currently, but I've thought about getting one. Got a friend with a camper on an f250, benefit is all your stuff stays dry.

no pic but yes, put a mattress in the back and you have a hard shell tent, no wind or rain problems.

Camped out of my old '89 Toyota pickup in Nevada/California for a couple of summers. Make sure you have a good pad, the ridges on the truckbed can be tough on your back. If you are going to have two people bring a tent, the Toyota bed is a little narrow for double sleeping.

I had a buddy in Colorado that would travel all over to ski at different mountains, and had a bad arse setup using his camper shell. He build a giant drawer that pulled out that held all of his gear, clothes food, etc, and had a bed built on top of that. Forgot what it was specifically, but had a fairly inexpensive heat source as well, but camped outside all through the winter.Think he had a tundra or T100 though.

I have one on my F250 that I got from an OBer that I'll be using for camping and stuff like that, I've slept in it a couple times for kayak tournaments just throwing down a bedroll and sleeping bag but am currently in the process of getting it a little better setup. I take it off/on occasionally, even with the roof rack I'm building on it two people can pretty easily get it off and on. It's also nice to have for roadtrips where I can put everything in the back without it getting wet and 4 people ride comfortably in the cab without a ton of shite everywhere.
The roof rack I'm building myself. The plan is to be able to put the kayaks up on the rack and sleep inside when it's cooler. Plan to eventually get either one of the air mattresses that's designed to go in a truck bed or two foldable cots. LED lights are for loading/unloading/rigging crap when launching at dark. Rod racks on the inside. It'll all be powered by a 12v battery I'm going to mount inside for the LED lights, some interior lights, and cell phone charger plugs/a place to plug a 12v fan in. It's still a work in progress at this point.
