Torsion axles and tire wear-issue resolved

So, the newish boat has trailered fine until this weekend. Had a blowout on the way down to Grand Isle. Turns out, the tire was rubbing on a bolt head inside the wheel well. I check the other tire, and it's doing it too. Also hitting the fender itself.
My first thought was that the previous owner simply bought too large a diameter tire leaving little to no room for the tire inside the well. I was all set to go buy new tires today then it occurred to me that maybe the axle is the problem. Could wear and tear cause the wheels to sit higher inside the well?

Unless your leaf springs are causing sag in your axle (which would be unlikely) then you just need smaller rubbers. Leaf springs aren't known to sag much anymore, I mean unless the trailer is about 50 years old.

If its got torsion axles then it's not gonna have leaf springs.

But it was all worth it because you mopped up on trout when you got to the island right?

I got nothing for ya on this other than I'd bring it in to MG's trailer depot to get checked out.

Bought a used boat/trailer last year and had extreme tire wear until I realized the dumbass prior owner had the tires on backwards.
Just a thought -- hope it helps.

I got smaller tires, and they now fit well. Problem is, it looks like the spindle or whatever is just on the rod at a poor angle. It's so rusted that I don't think I can adjust it at all. Looks like I need new ones.
Here's a pic in case some have never seen this,

I will be selling my boat trailer within the next month or so. I'll give you a good deal on it.

I actually will be selling it as soon as I get the title in hand. It's a long story but someone is going to get a good deal on it.

Maybe a dumb question, but did you check your bearings?
Is this a one or two axle trailer?

One axle, and I don't understand the bearing angle. I can see the rubber marks on the fender. A bolt head under there was rubbed almost completely off. This is a new development which means to me the doohickeys connected to the axle have shifted north by northwest.

If the bearing are loose the tires could be angled in at the top. Probably not the case just wondering.

Frick, I hope it is. I just had the hubs changed from oil bath to grease. I would get it fixed for free. Problem is, it's on both sides now. Really odd. The tire that did not blow was going to. It has half of a tread eaten away by a bolt head.

Do you have an old picture of the trailer with boat on it that you could compare if it has been rIding lower lately.

I don't think anything that would show a whole lot, but I'll look.

If you think the axles shifted on you it may happen again so new tires may not help. Isn't the spring just a piece of rubber that absorbs the bumps. Could be dry rotted.
I don't know just throwing ideas out.
