Biggest I've thrown is a 6XD. I've never really gotten too much into the deep diving crankbaits. If I fished there a lot more often I might do it. Let's hope that happens in the future.

I'm more of a Carolina rig, heavy Tx rig, or football jig kinda guy in deep water.

Seems like they would be rough on your reels. I know my 8ft deep crankbait ain't no baby to reel in, I can't imagine a deep diving one.

That's why most people use a lower gear ratio. Better torque. Kinda like peddling a bike up hill. You'd rather be in 1st gear.

But yeah, it'll wear you down after a while.

Lets talk crankbaits.
I threw a rod and reel into the spillway once. After the 127th time getting hung up, I lost it

I fish the spillway and Verret pretty much exclusively. I only throw crankbaits when I find a slough that I know doesnt have shite under water to get hung up on

I have decided I want to wacky rig more now.

Went to Academy and bought 47 different color senkos(even though I will throw only watermelon or junebug) and bought about 12 different weedless wacky hooks

I have one just for that. It's rarely used.

Only thing of mine they ever hurt was my wallet. I crank on a 5:1 reel and never really had a problem reeling. Keeping those trebles out of every stump within a mile is another story. They're fun but breaking them off adds up quick, and I have more confidence in a Carolina rig in the same situations.

Sitting at the camp next to the 1215 launch now trying to decide where to fish this afternoon.

Yesterday beat the docks in what shade we could find in Lanana bay south and United Bay Area. Picked up a few. This morning hit the chicken coop area and struck out.

One thing for sure. It's hot as all hell

Didn't make that all day run to clear creek. Beat the docks and buddy picked up only two. I struck out.

Today we hit north Lana bay. Beat the docks and trolled in a few cuts 14-20 foot water with crank baits. Picked up a few Went back out in the afternoon before the bad winds and trolled the main water there and picked up better fish.

My dad had a club tourney and caught a 7.58 like 10 minutes into the morning and ended up with 18.8 pounds. He said he caught em all flipping a rage craw on trees and stumps.

Damn. Stayed around y'alls place?

I am trying to figure a way to leave tomorrow and have a couple of days with no family to fish before they come shut it all down.

It is confirmed. I will be on the lake around lunch on Wednesday and will have the living legend Pillageurvillage with me. May God have mercy on the souls of the bass population.
