Whole lake is public, and the boat roads are fine, especially with the lake as high as it is right now. If somebody comes out on a dock you are fishing and tries to make you leave, you have just as much a right to fish it as he does.

Hey Neck,

Except for looking at some online maps, I am not familiar with the lake at all.

Don't fly into a tranquil cove at full power
Don't holeshot when leaving
Don't drop your trash in the water
And maybe watch your language or don't take a leak if kids are around

Never cared about people fishing near our pier, just don't be a douche.

Yes, we are staying at WildWood Resort which the launch there seems to run you right into San Patricio Bayou.

After dark the lighted docks on the south side of san miguel ( which you will hear referred to as sammy gill ) will hold fish. They are about a mile up from Wildwood. Directly across on the north side ( mouth of sammy gill ) there are a couple of ridges that should have pepper grass on them. Early in the a.m. or late in the evening with a topwater bait may work. Those ridges will also hold bream as well.

Thanks! We will have a boat, is there anywhere near there that you would suggest running to?

Not being an arse, but with y'all not used to running the lake it may be best to stay around sammy gill. There are two ways to catch them in the daylight this time of year. You go down south and drop grass or ( like me ) you go north and fish the river. You may find fish schooling at the mouth of sammy gill mid-morning. Just depends on what the shad are doing. It's a big body of water if you don't know it, but trust me, it's not nearly as dangerous as people make it out to be. Now Sam Rayburn, 45 mins west of there, that one will kill you. Corps laid it out wrong when it was built.

Yea staying close does sound good to me too... Have you ever fished out in the bayou right where coming from the wildwood resort launch will lead you to? I read a couple online entries about catching big fish there

The year it was 159 we went up and by that time it was 162. I seen stuff in the water that I should have never seen. I'm talking 3-4ft in diameter solid stumps in secondary boat lanes. I'm always tense riding around that place. No way I'd do it at night

You will be right by my camp, and that is in San Miguel, not San Patricio. There is a good spot for schooling whites right down and across the pocket from where you will be. If you leave out of the pocket where Wildwood and the San Miguel launch are, run to the right down the boat road until you pass the point that the boat road gets closest to. It should be two points down from that launch. Right after you pass that point, come off plane and turn left. Idle all the way across, and watch your depth finder. The water will come up to about 6 or 7 foot from 18 or so. It's a huge flat we call the football field. Between it and the bank, the whiteys and some small largemouth school there a lot. If there's a red aluminum boat there, that's a local, he's there a lot.

The crosshairs are where I'm talking about, and the launch at the bottom right is the pocket San Miguel and Wildwood are in.
