Looking at purchasing my first rifle. Up till now I've always hunted with a 30-30 my dad passed down to me. I've come down to the tikka t3 lite in .308. Are the upgrades to the t3x worth the extra $150 or will I be satisfied the previous model? I'll probably only use it 2-4 times a year.

I've got the T3 lite in .308. I love that's its lightweight it does have a little more recoil because of this but its not that big of a deal. I plan on supressing it in the near future so that should help some with the recoil issue.

Recoil shouldn't be an issue for me. I'm leaning towards going with the older model and spending more on the glass. Just don't want to kick myself later for not spending the extra money on the rifle if there are significant improvements.

Some people complain about the cheap plastic feeling stocks on the t3, supposedly they made some changes to them. Go look at them in person.

I've handled the t3x but can't find a t3 in stock anywhere to compare.

Also, anyone have ring recommendations for the tikka. I've heard some can be troublesome.
