Looking at a new Tikka CTR in 308. No one in Shreveport has this gun in stock for me to visualize & fondle before buying.
Any info or advise on this gun from the OT.

I hear it is pretty nice. All Tikkas are great quality for the money and the CTR is no different. The people at Interstate guns in Hammond rave about the ctr in particular.

Very nice gun duck, do u have any experience with it? Really interested in the detachable mag that the CTR comes with. Of course it will be the only one I get bc they are $200 magazines which is crazy.

No one in shreveport has one for me to look at, i have a saker in jail that im waiting on and need a 308 with a threaded barrel. How is the medium contour barrel? i know that its obviously nat as heavy as say a 5R barrel, would it be comparable to the LTR barrel w/o the fluting?
either way im probably going to get it, just wondering.

Id say its comparable to the remington varmint profile.

I know you are looking for a threaded gun, but you could always have a different gun threaded for your Saker.

Not really trying to sway you from the ctr.

Remingggton has the 5r that comes in a 20" and threaded. They also have the ltr and sps tactical aac threaded as well.

Savage will probably make whatever you want if you call them, but they have a model 10 with McMillan stock for around 1200.

I still think the ctr is the best deal, just having a barrel threaded isnt a big deal. Threading should be around $75-125.

It's pretty cheap to thread barrel. Like 100 or 125.

I'll probably get a CTR and drop it in a B&C stock with my saker. Think it would be awesome

I just like that grey stock and stainless look. Can a larger mag fit it?

Guess i should have stated a req other than Remington. I have the LTR 20" and its a tack driver no doubt, only thing is my father gave me that gun & it has more sentimental value for me the way he set it up rather than threading the barrel for my saker, i'll never change that gun!(weird i know) Also just want to kinda step outside the Remington market box, I know the 5R is an excellent gun with great accuracy, i'm just not drawn to it. Now Savage i may give that a shot, i'm going tomorrow to take a gander at a few of them.
Does anyone know or heard of mag problems with the CTR?
